Sydney Cricket Ground
The Sydney Cricket Ground is located on Driver Avenue, Moore Park, Sydney. It is used for various cricket tournaments and competitions, as well as for other sports. It serves as the home ground for the New South Wales Blues Cricket team, and it is the property of the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust. The main ground has a sitting capacity of over 48 thousand, although, on certain occasions, it has hosted more than 50 thousand people.
The playing field at the Sydney Cricket Ground is surrounded by a number of independent grandstand structures rather than one continuous pavilion. The grandstands include the Bill O'Reilly Stand, the M.A Noble, Bradman and Messenger Stands, the Clive Churchill Stand, the Victor Trumper Stand, The Members’ Stand, the Ladies’ Stand, and the Brewongle Stand.
Cricket games have been played at the ground since the middle of the 19th century. Currently, cricket tournaments that are often hosted at the grounds include the Test Cricket tournament, Twenty20 Cricket, and One Day International Cricket. The New Year's Day Tests, now called the Pink Tests, are usually held at the Sydney Cricket Ground to raise breast cancer awareness.
Despite its name, the Sydney Cricket Ground is sometimes used for a number of other sports, including rugby, Aussie rules football, and on rare occasions, baseball. The ground occasionally hosts National Rugby League matches.
